With the beginning of the war, many border areas of the Islamic Republic of Iran were occupied or were in the cross-hairs of the Baathist enemy direct fire. In the meantime, the resistant city of Abadan, from the beginning of the war was surrounded from three sides, was still resisting sporadically. In this context, Iraqi planes, regularly bombed the city and other border towns. On the first day of winter in 1980, three Iraqi MiG Tupolev aircraft and Abadan penetrated the sky and targeted residential areas of the city. Many houses were destroyed and a number of innocent people were martyred or injured. However, in return, two Iraqi aircraft were targeted by Iranian warplanes.
